Tutors

Can I use my volunteer experience for school credit or community service hours?Yes, many of our volunteers use their hours for school credit or community service requirements! High school volunteers who have shown dedication over a sustained period of time may also request a letter of reccomendation. Please email volunteer@kidsneedourwords.org for more information.

Do I need any prior experience to volunteer?No, prior experience is not required. We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds and provide the necessary training and support to help you succeed in your role.

What is the time commitment for volunteers?The time commitment varies depending on the role. Some volunteers contribute a few hours a week, while others may commit to more regular schedules. Tutoring requires a commitment of two hours per week., including a 60-90 minute tutoring session and time it takes to prep before the session. We offer flexible opportunities to fit your availability.

Can I volunteer remotely?Yes, many of our roles, such as tutoring and social media management, can be done remotely. We understand the need for flexibility and are happy to accommodate remote volunteering where possible.
